When you purchase carpet from Malkin’s, you receive an exclusive, one-year spot and spill warranty at no cost to you! We also provide a complimentary spot remover that will remove up to 95 percent of all common stains.
The best way to prolong the life of your carpet and enhance its beauty is to vacuum it thoroughly and regularly. Vacuum high-traffic areas twice a week and the remaining carpet once a week. Use mats at doors to catch dirt or water. Consider a deep cleaning service by reputable professionals every 12 to 18 months to remove surface dirt, allergens and greasy residues—and, more importantly, to maintain your carpet/manufacturer’s warranty. Treat stains and clean spills as soon as possible—if you get to it immediately, there’s a 99 percent chance you can remove it! And be sure to blot instead of rub or scrub. The longer you wait, the more the carpet fibers will absorb the stain or spill.
Ceramic tile is durable and easily cared for. Clean with a damp mop or common household cleaners. Most floor surfaces can be cleaned with a solution of vinegar and water. Marble requires extra care; do not use abrasives, ammonia-based or acidic cleaners. Use special cleaners meant specifically for granite.
Use natural and biodegradable cleaners on green flooring—check the manufacturer’s guidelines for details.
Hardwood Flooring Care
First of all, do not use water to clean your hardwood flooring. Water and wood do not mix. We suggest a dry mop to pick up dust. When it comes to more thorough cleaning, you can use a hard surface cleaning kit. Spray cleaner on a small section and wipe immediately in the same way you would remove Windex sprayed on windows. Be sure to dry the floor sooner rather than later.
Laminate floors offer superior stain resistance and an easy care finish. Regular sweeping, dry mopping or vacuuming will remove dirt and dust. An occasional cleaning with a hard surface cleaning kit is recommended but be sure to wipe the floor dry afterwards. Don’t use soap-based detergent or mop and glow products. Spot clean according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
To keep your vinyl looking beautiful, sweep or vacuum frequently. Don’t use a vacuum with a beater bar or a scrub brush. If sweeping or vacuuming doesn’t remove the dirt, mop the vinyl with clean water. Rinse thoroughly. Detergents, abrasive cleaners, and mop and glow products are not recommended for use on vinyl. Wipe up spills and spots immediately.
